How To Fix ‘Volume Bitmap Is Incorrect’ CHKDSK Error

Running the CHKDSK without ‘/scan.’

  • Click Windows and R button.
  • The Run prompt menu gets open on the desktop.
  • Enter “cmd” in the text box.

  • The Command Prompt gets open on the desktop.
  • The User Account Control launches on the screen.
  • Press Yes to allow the administrative privileges.
  • In the Command Prompt, enter the command which is given below:

chkdsk *X:* /f

  • Click Enter.
  • Let the procedure finish.

Go through the CHKDSK interrupt

  • For this procedure, exit from the Command Prompt menu.
  • Restart the system before finishing the procedure.
  • After the procedure gets finished, restart the PC.
  • Let the sequence finish.
  • Once the system gets booted, run any other CHKDSK procedure with the ‘scan’ symbol.
  • Check if the error is still showing by entering the below-mentioned command:

chkdsk /scan·

By Uninstalling the HDD partitioning application

  • Click Windows and R keys.
  • The Run pop-up box gets opened.
  • Enter “appwiz.cpl” in the text box.
  • Click Enter.
  • The Programs and Files get launched on the desktop.
  • Go down to the apps menu list.
  • Find partitioning software.
  • This procedure will remove that software.
  • Right-click on the partitioning software.
  • Select Uninstall.
  • Read on-screen instructions.
  • Restart the PC.
  • Let the startup sequence gets complete.
  • Do this scanning procedure again, which is causing this error.
  • Check if this error is fixed.

By Running DISM and SFC scans

  • Click Windows and R button.
  • The Run pop-up menu gets opened on the screen.
  • Enter “cmd” in the search bar.
  • Click Control+Shift+Enter keys.
  • The Command Prompt menu gets open the screen.
  • You will get the User account Prompt menu on the screen.
  • Press Yes.
  • In the Command Prompt, enter the command given below:

Dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth

Dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

  • Click Enter.
  • After finishing this process, restart the PC.
